One big family…
Love works well at Haus Pikinini in raising decent human beings who have learned to care for each other despite coming from diverse tribes and fractured family units. The manager and carers continue to provide daily guidance for the children as in a regular family.
The dynamics are changing as the children enter their teens…they are back at school but now spend a lot of time studying or just hanging out listening to music with less interest in riding bikes, skating, swimming, or fishing…the usual challenges faced by parents with teenagers.
Programme continues…
The programme will continue until all 20 children can attend high school as boarders. Although they are not able to take in more children, the extension programme now reaches more children and families.
All students in PNG are repeating 2 years due to schools’ closure during Covid-19 pandemic… several gifted students have had this time reduced.
Becoming connected…
Computers are unknown to the children! Wi-Fi will be funded by their MP and a computer room planned…providing greater opportunities for learning and preparing them for high school.
