Children Excel…
Primary leaving examination were held in March this year with the results back by June. The children performed really well in both schools, Rakai and Kampala, with 15 children attaining division one grade (top grade) and 26 attaining division two. There are four divisions (grades). For all the students to finish within the top two divisions is a great achievement and a credit to the teachers, particularly given the difficult background that many of the children.
Still in lockdown
During this quarter Uganda has gone back into lockdown following a serious wave of COVID-19 cases with all schools still closed. The impact is devastating for the children and their teachers. The Ministry of Education proposes to stagger the reopening of the schools with the first three classes in the lower section and three classes in secondary school between September and October this year.
