Catch up time…
The children are settling back into school life after schools reopened in January. By second term, 99% of both primary and secondary students had returned to school. They have missed 18 months of schooling so need to work hard to complete their education within reasonable timeframes.
Kindergarten children are happy to be learning again at Life Care Academy in Kampala, including a sponsored child.
Study trip…
Excitement reigns as the children prepare for a forthcoming study trip within the country …children to visit factories, farms, and the source of river Nile to highlight what they learn in class.
School administration challenges…
The leaders have managed to maintain the school’s operations despite the increased costs due to general inflation…including increase in teachers’ wages. They need to find other ways of increasing income so the schools can maintain the standard of food and education…including reviewing sponsorship costs.
It has been hard to recruit teachers after the lockdowns but they have managed to fill all teaching positions to cover all classes and keep the children’s education on track again.
Sponsors needed…
The number of sponsored children is less than anticipated due to the lockdowns. There are children needing sponsors and we are aiming to increase the number of children sponsored as this program develops.
