Restrictions continue…
While COVID-19 still hampers activities, the project continued supporting this Cambodian community. Seven Provinces near the Thailand boarder are currently in lock down but good news…Siem Reap Education department are considering allowing public and private schools to open as soon as possible.
Staff team supported
Building a cohesive and effective staff team has become the primary focus. The staff continue to be fully paid with most of the Cambodian staff enjoying staying on BOH premises for fellowship. Staff meetings continue in person and via Zoom each week.
BOH has been able to assist several of the team or their families with health issues to receive the appropriate medical treatment and support their families.
Students supported
The students are given personal tuition by staff at BOH premises and sat their final exams on the 25th to 27th August. Staff are divided into 2 teams who alternate coming to the premises to support students.
Other ways students were supported included distribution of special gift pack on Children’s day in Cambodia in June and a recently orphaned student is now fully supported by a staff member.
To continue this support:
- an extra teacher will be required when schools open again and
- larger exercise space is desperately needed to continue the Physical Exercise program.
Local families supported
Crisis lift food packages were distributed to all of the local community in July and August. Due to COVID-19 restriction, it took several days to complete each time. The rice sponsorship program continues as normal, providing 21 families with a few extra kilos of rice every week.
‘Life of Light’
The new NGO registration process is now complete. BOH activities are expected to flourish under a new NGO, Light of Life.
