Christmas and School Start-up
The children at the Ashir Orphan Chidren’s Home are all healthy and fit and recently experienced the true joy of Christmas during our celebrations. All of them received new clothes and gifts, while skits and dance performances were wonderful.
In mid-February the high school children started up again with added Covid-19 safety measures and they are gradually adapting to the situation. New books and materials for their respective classes are a big financial challenge. Moves are being made by the Government to reduce the study load on the children by reducing the syllabus for each subject.
Children and the CWC Recommendations
It would be helpful for the children if, as the CWC advised, we were able to appoint some tutors for the children. With the school shut-down during the pandemic there was little interaction between children and teacher so they grasped very little with virtual learning.
A recent visit from the CWC composed of new government officials resulted in an inpection of the living and accommodation situation of the children and some minor recommendations to safeguard their health. Other recommendations included a regular monthly check-up of the children’s health and the repair or renovation of some doors and windows.
Showers of Blessing
Praise God for the recent local water pipeline connection, however, the recommendation is that we install a ground-level drinking water storage unit. We have already dug the hole so we can build it with a solid foundation using iron and strong concrete.
In spite of all the COVID-19 around world, it is an amazing miracle to see all the children safe and healthy without one getting infected. We praise the Lord that none of the staff nor the children on campus have been infected with this deadly virus.
