Planting to suit your environment…
Do you know which food plants grow best in the highlands of PNG or their coastal areas? No…most of us don’t. Good news… Food Plants International Inc, managed by Bruce French AO, has researched numerous countries and are able to tell you what grows best in many different environments…desert regions, or flood plains, forests, and many others. As of August 2020, there were 31,170 edible plant species detailed on their website!
Their headquarters in Burnie is a sight to behold…thousands of laminated photos, displays, resources, books, access to laptops with information on most countries. Visitors call in daily including many local gardeners, gardening groups and university students to glean helpful information.
