New orphanage…
A second orphanage is now home to sixteen girls. The compound also contains the boy’s orphanage, childcare, kindy, preschool and primary school. Once the secondary school is completed, the children have an onsite pathway to higher education and a bright future.
Sports mania…
An overwhelming response to join the Club has necessitated 2 programs…the current representative club HADA FC club playing in the city, Country and African competitions and the re-established Orthodox FC club participating in the local school competition…a feeder for the representative club. Both programs share all facilities and grow as one. Every child in the Club (now over 450) is sponsored by the School under a ‘No School No Play’ policy.
The representative side has won all competitions…Local, State and Africa wide in the age divisions of U12 & U15 for the past 2 years. Seven U15 players represented the National Squad in the U17 division and are now in the second Division State competition. 26 players were picked by the newly created FIFA West African Academy to attend a 3-month training Academy in the UK.
Negotiations continue with the local and UK FIFA executives and a Greek charitable organisation for sponsorship of a new Sporting Football Club & Field.
Sports Academy House
Haralambos House (Harry’s house) is home to 24 orphaned and street boys and is the meeting place for HADA FC club members…a safe place free from drugs, gangs, and other bad influences in the community…a place where love is freely shared. The illicit drug, Kush, is becoming a major drug problem with the youth in Sierra Leone.
Harry’s house is attracting media attention being the first of its kind in Freetown. With over 450 members and half being homeless it is our aim to purchase more houses and replicate Harry’s House.
