Budding readers…
The children at St Tabitha’s have enthusiastically embraced the ‘Reading Buddy’ programme with individualised reading lists…to encourage a love of books and reading to others. The focus over the past 3 months has been to improve educational outcomes and to motivate the older children to support the younger ones. Literacy, reading for pleasure and homework support are the focus of the daily routine at the orphanage.
Tutors mentored…
Mentoring, resourcing and supporting of new tutors has helped cater for individual needs of the children. Enrichment and vocational lessons in cooking, art, weaving and sewing will be incorporated in 2023.
Upskilling with technology…
Technology was introduced with laptops and a printer in the library…improving writing, reading and computer skills.
Orphanage upgrade…
The purchase of the adjoining land for construction of a kindergarten and tutoring school is in progress and expected to be finalized early 2023.
