A new start..
There is excitement and a sense of anticipation of an uninterrupted school year without Covid-19 restrictions limiting the school. As most people in Cambodia are vaccinated against Covid-19, the Prime Minister has stated that there will be no more lockdowns…unless there are outbreaks and the schools will be closed for a week.
School started with 49 pupils and four teachers. Lessons are from 7:00 am until 10:30am – Monday to Wednesday and Friday to Saturday.
Support continues to grow…
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) has been approved and signed. According to the new procedures, the managers, Will and Julie, have to enter a country where there is a Cambodian embassy and apply for an entry visa. Once in Cambodia ELIC will apply for their NGO visas.
Though Will and Julie are still waiting to return to Cambodia from South Africa, the visit by the ELIC deputy chairman, Jachin Huang, from Singapore was appreciated by staff, children and families.
The ELIC supporter’s meeting is a successful forum to discuss any issues faced and develop future plans.
Teachers supported…
Will and Julie with the ELIC management have two weekly meetings with the teachers online and are available for the teachers for any matters that arise.
