Dream becoming reality…
In 2009, Joyce Chimbila started working in Old Mushili with a feeding project for disadvantaged children and orphans which grew into a preschool to prepare the children to enter government schools. After the students were rejected by the government schools, Joyce started a Grade 1 school. In 2022 they have 224 children enroled on two campuses.
On a recent visit to HADA, Joyce stated they are celebrating the achievement of their dream to take the child to another level of education from Secondary school into University or Tertiary. Four students out of five who were in grade 12, qualified to go to the University and Tertiary.
School in full swing...
The new school building is fully utilised by students, and all classes are back to normal…providing quality education, a feeding program, recreation and sport and many other activities. The Counselling service has been well utilised to assist those struggling with stress and depression from Covid-19, unemployment and low economy.
Food for thought…
The feeding program provides one meal per day to 224 students five days a week to provide reasonable nourishment and mental alertness for those children with HIV/AIDS & malaria on very strong medication or those who are malnourished from poverty…for some this is the only meal for the day.
Empowering Caregivers…
With the reality of poverty and the daily increase in Covid-19 cases, empowerment of the Caregivers is paramount to improving the household food basket of the vulnerable thus protecting and improving the life of the child. This program is skilling them for the future with sustainable projects like farming…giving seed and manure, renting land for the caregivers to grow crops…teaching them how to fish instead of giving them fish.
