School back on track…
The top 4 floors of the Tongi school are near completion. Despite the closure of all schools due to COVID-19 outbreak for 18 months in 2020/2021/2022 and closure due to civil unrest in July and August 2024, the project is back on track. Most students progressed through to the next grade and the school is running smoothly with increasing enrolments although lower than expected post Covid epidemic.
The epidemic hurt the Bangladeshi economy, particularly the garment industry. This combined with high inflation over the past 2 years and businesses moving work to other more stable countries has put financial stress on families.
Ongoing schedule…
- Finalise the school building.
- A drive to increase enrolments from 85 to 150.
- Confirmation of self-sufficiency achievement in the 2026 school year.
