Legacy continues…
Professors Judith Goh AO and Hannah Krause AO and their team continue to undertake fistula camps and train local health professionals at various sites to continue these lifechanging procedures for many women in Africa and Asia…doctors are now performing surgeries independently and nursing staff have the skills to assess women more accurately.
The team have been busy over the past 4 months training and involving Dr Baluku (Kagando Hospital) and Dr Marvin (Mbarara Hospital) in follow up of women and research (also involving nursing staff at Kagando and Rwenzori Mountain community healthcare centre).
At camps held in Kagando Hospital, Kitovu Hospital and Comboni Hospital, 223 women were treated, and 11 medical practitioners trained. As a result of these workshops, new sites are requesting training.
What is next…
Prof Judith Goh is holding a workshop in Kuantan, Malaysia and to Phnom Penh, Cambodia in the second half of December.
Profs Judith Goh AO & Hannah Krause AO will be returning to Wau, South Sudan and to visit a new site, CEML Hospital at Lubango Angola, to undertake a fistula camp and to train the doctors on site.
