Good news…
With the increased availability of Covid-19 vaccines in Uganda, the government confirmed that schools will reopen in January 2022. This is very good news for the children who are now in their second year of seriously disrupted schooling.
Sponsored children mentored…
Throughout the lockdowns, local managers remained in regular contact with all the sponsored children and families and staff; distributed food to teachers, children and their families, and assisted in the community as needed. Grace care staff continued to mentor teenagers in developing general life skills as well as practical skills…such as sewing…to keep them busy and engaged.
Sponsorships needed…
A sincere ‘thank you’ to all sponsors for your continued vital support for these children. Currently 35 children and two liaison workers are benefiting from sponsorships which also indirectly benefit teachers and support staff at the two primary schools with assurance of school fees to pay wages, purchase equipment and supplies and support families. Sadly, the lockdowns have reduced the number of new sponsors and there are many more who could benefit from this support.
