Hope for their Future…
Two sponsors visited the project, collaborating closely with staff and students in the schools. They distributed letters to sponsored students from their sponsors and received return letters from the children including their ambitions…most popular career was to be doctors, while others want to be engineers, pastors, and lawyers. They have high hope for their futures!
The visitors raised $1400 for the project from sales of craft goods from their visit including items made in Alison’s sewing classes and others bought at the craft market.
Three more sponsored students have completed their final examinations for entry into university or other tertiary education. Their future is full of opportunities.
Challenges…
- The rains are late, leaving the coffee plantation dry and increasing food prices. They may need to stockpile food for the children’s meals if the dry continues.
- To cover expenses for children previously sponsored by a USA sponsor. They anticipate these children should be able to complete their primary education with the generous increased donations from the Australian supporters enabling the children to remain at school. These supporters have significantly improved the children’s future outcomes!
More sponsors & material needed…
- More sponsors would enable more children to continue their education after graduating or obtain full time work, improving their opportunities.
- Australian resource coordinators in different parts of the country would help to reach more people who may wish to be sponsors throughout Australia. Currently all sponsors are based in New South Wales or South Australia.
- They need more scholastic materials, office furniture, and textbooks in the UNEB syllabus.
