No Friends for Months
Schools have reopened after the COVID lockdown, but only for children sitting external examinations (last year of primary school and O and A level students at high school) and this has increased our costs somewhat. Other children will not restart school until the scheduled date next year – January 2021- depending on COVID numbers being acceptable. Up to now all our children are in good spirits despite their long stay at home which has made life is a little hard for them. They are missing their school friends so much. Some families still need food aid but fewer than previously as restrictions have been reduced.
School Attendance Challenge
When the students were coming to school, it was sometimes hard to ensure consistent school attendance for day children, as guardians often want the children to work around the house for them instead of attending school. We are hoping this will not worsen after the school returns, as guardians have become used to the extra help at home during the COVID-19 lockdown. Rest assured the kids are anxious to get back to school as they prefer their studies and extra-curricular activities to the hard work at home.
