Covid-19 – a Hiccough
Covid-19, though a hiccough in our plans, hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm of our team for the vision that urges us on. Access to educational facilities via scholarships for poor and underprivileged children and older people, along with adequate housing, nutrition, health care and sporting facilities for them drive us forward. And it’s impossible to forget the needed benevolent relief we long to give to the poor, homeless, sick, orphans, incapacitated, widows and lost people in general in order to create a better society in the local communities around these educational facilities.
Covid-19 lockdowns have increased, stifling almost all activity. We have implemented stricter budgets for each department and are implementing a mission-wide staff redundancy program to keep within them.
Sports and Scholarships
The sporting activities of the Orthodox Football Club are gaining widespread notoriety through all areas of culture in Sierra Leone. Football (Soccer) has an almost 100% following in West Africa as in Latin America. Our 3 teams won all their inaugural matches in their divisions and defeated the champions in each sector. This has stirred us to embark on a proposed project for a sports academy
The Department of Education has advised us on the new Kroo Bay School and scholarships for students entering higher education. Although this community is basically shunned by the population at large, it has welcomed us with open arms. Our last container with many pieces of medical equipment went primarily to the makeshift Clinic in the Kroo Bay community until the new one is completed.
You Can Help Change Lives
You can assist us as we continue learning how to handle more effectively the ever-increasing influx of street children. The greatest challenges at the moment are general educational resources and laptops for the mainly poor students who are unable to pay for their future education.
