Restarting Chicken Keeping…
The women’s residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre has successfully restarted its chicken keeping project after several years. With HADA’s support, the old coop was repaired, 25 chicks purchased, and clients now share responsibilities for feeding and cleaning. Fresh eggs are again part of meals, with surplus eggs sold to support running costs. The project is improving nutrition, building practical skills, and restoring a sense of purpose and pride among clients.
Myanmar Earthquake Response…
Following the recent earthquake in Myanmar, ACN staff self-funded their travel to join a local contact in Mandalay and deliver food, hygiene items, and water filters to affected families. The team shared solidarity by drawing on Nepal’s own disaster experiences and provided practical guidance to local relief groups. Though modest in scale, the response demonstrated communities once supported now extending compassion to others.

- Government approval for new community development and health promotion in south Nepal.
- Social audit well attended with strong feedback from local leaders, media, and officials.
- Child WASH camps raised hygiene and sanitation awareness among schoolchildren and families.
- Former rehab clients reintegrated addiction-free, applying skills gained in the centre.
- Youth sensitisation programmes improved awareness of drugs, alcohol, and trafficking.
- Earth brick construction training commenced in Jajarkot.
- Goat and pig farming training for flood survivors completed, with new skills applied.
- Community mobilisers selected in Sarawal; 20 trainees placed for on-the-job training in Nawalparasi.
- Disaster risk reduction training delivered to leaders and officials in Rukum.
