Long Cold Winter…
- Frequent power outages and restrictions meant electricity shortages in Ulaanbaatar this winter leading to the failure of the rehabilitation centre’s heating system. The people in the rehabilitation centre had to endure significant cold during the winter.
Operational schedule on track…
Street Ministry:
- Buya and Chuka regularly reach out (twice a week) to people living around Bars Market and Dari-ekh who struggle with alcohol dependence, poverty, illness, and emotional distress.
- They come into the bus to warm up, drink hot tea, receive emotional and spiritual support. Regular attendees appreciate this service and now look forward to these visits.
- As part of this ministry, they visit families affected by alcohol dependence, help clean their homes using hot water, and provide small amounts of firewood or coal.
- They also provide basic medical and food assistance to those in need.
- From January to April, 12 individuals were admitted to our rehabilitation centre, 16 individuals were referred to other centres, 7 individuals are currently living successfully free from alcohol dependence.
Community House:
- The resident group participates in morning reflections, daily cleaning, outdoor work (heating, snow removal), and working as guards for nearby apartments. The participants are learning important life skills such as self-awareness, setting boundaries, and developing healthy self-esteem
- Training sessions and AA group meetings continue to guide them toward spiritual transformation.
Training and Counselling:
- They are now conducting AA group meetings among the people at Maanit—a facility where individuals with alcohol and drug dependence are kept and required to perform forced labour.
