Connecting with the Homeless…
The team continues its outreach through the Drop-in Bus, Community House, and Small Business (Ger-Café) projects. Despite significant challenges, these initiatives remain an important bridge between people struggling with homelessness or addiction and the hope of reintegration into society.
- Drop-in Bus
Contact was maintained with those on the streets through occasional visits. Recently, a new phase of street outreach began in the Bars Market area. Homeless individuals struggling with alcohol dependence were offered food and drinks, listened to with compassion, and connected to rehabilitation services through local NGOs.
- Community House
This period was difficult, as all participants left before completing the program. Each faced significant personal or social challenges—including legal issues, documentation problems, or serious illness—and despite sustained efforts to help resolve these matters, many eventually relapsed.
The focus will shift from rehabilitation to reintegration, providing structured follow-up and transitional support for those who have completed rehabilitation elsewhere. The goal is to help individuals build sustainable, independent lives back in society.
- Ger-Café
The café continues to operate smoothly and remains a vital link to the community. The manager maintains close relationships with local families, particularly those in need of extra care and support. Plans are underway to invite vulnerable families and children to special events, deepening relationships and strengthening community ties.
Direct Area Outreach…
A small-scale outreach effort has begun in the nearby district, focusing on children living in dormitories and families affected by addiction. Many of these children come from broken homes. The café has become a safe place for teenagers to gather, chat with staff, and do schoolwork in a supportive environment.
Organisational Update…
The organisation continues to have challenges finding committed staff and social workers willing to engage in this demanding field and maintaining continuous care for participants who leave programs early. In light of the worsening alcohol-addiction crisis in Mongolia, the organisation is planning to continue to persevere and adapt sustainably.
Building repairs are an issue —particularly deteriorating plumbing.
