Lifechanging support continues…
Alcoholic and addiction support groups continue to operate well…meeting eight times a week in the community centre space and in two other locations, with many reaching significant milestones of sobriety. The co-dependency support group, consisting mostly of wives of alcoholics, meets weekly in the community centre space with an online presence for those who cannot attend.
In addition, helpful printed information is regularly available on the bulletin board in the public corridor for those passing by or waiting for the veterinarian next door.
Many benefitting…
Around 72 people are regularly impacted by the program and the co-dependency group. Family members, friends, and employers are indirectly benefitting.
Challenges…
- Flooding over the past few months has damaged the centre. Repairs are needed urgently to enable full use of the centre and prevent future flooding.
- There is still a need to find new locations to support more people as the city continues to grow.
- The manager is currently away due to family illness making it difficult to monitor and prevent conflicts occurring. Conflict resolution training and review of group dynamics and rules are planned on his return.
