Sad news…
Two young men associated with the orphanage were involved in a serious scooter accident on 16 September 2026. Sadly, Suresh died on the way to hospital and Rajesh is in a critical condition in hospital.
Suresh was welcomed into GCM as a young boy along with his brother and sister after his mother’s death and neglect by his father. He had completed his degree and gained employment at a finance firm in the city. His younger brother is still in the home. His sister is now married. Suresh will be sorely missed by his siblings and all at GCM!
Both these young men have been a wonderful example to the other children at the home. Please pray for the family members and residents of the orphanage (staff and children) all of whom are dealing with the shock and grief of this situation.
An amazing recovery…
Jonathan, an orphan at the home diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy, has had an extraordinary and rare recovery. From needing a heart transplant he is now walking, playing, laughing, and improving each day.
He remains under regular medical supervision and continues all prescribed medication and follow-up reviews. This has been nothing short of a miraculous medical journey, and we are deeply grateful to every person who prayed for Jonathan, gave towards his treatment, and stood with us.
New Academic Year…
GCM distributed School Start Kits to every child — new bags, notebooks, textbooks, stationery, uniforms and shoes. For children who have known deprivation, receiving a brand-new set of books and a bag of their own is an event of enormous joy and dignity…the excitement on their faces is one of the most rewarding sights of the year.
The children have settled well into their classes. The elder children are helping the younger ones with homework and study routines.
New Children…
GCM has welcomed six new children, each from circumstances of abandonment, poverty or destitution. Every one of them is now safe, enrolled in school, and settling into the rhythm of family life at Ashir Children Home.
