COVID-19 – ongoing challenges
Covid-19 continues to be rampant in the poor community and curfews are still a significant challenge in providing activities and education for these needy people.
Protection for abused orphans
The Tower Hill Childcare/Kindy opened in July 2021. The Government Gender Services department allocate Orphans who have been sexually abused and the Mission are employing a full time Child Protection Officer (CPO) selected from existing Genders Services staff. The CPO will also provide protection for all children in orphans, schools and football club.
Football
The Orthodox Football Club is gaining notoriety and they are currently leaders in third division. 5 players of the under 15 team were chosen to represent Sierra Leone in an international match against Guinea. 2 of these players were also chosen to play in the under 17 team.
After the success of the Freetown Sports Club, the club is being expanded to Waterloo for use by the school children and parents.
First graduates
It is exciting to have our first graduates for the scholarship program. A nurse, an accountant and an IT student have graduated and all are working for the Mission.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
The Teachers and IT college has been at full capacity for the past few years, and we are planning to refurbish the building to create more classrooms and a third storey. Laptops and sport boots are also needed for the students. If you wish to help with this project, just click on the “Donate to this Project” button on the right sidebar.
