Providing hope…
The school continues to give hope to many children and to this community in Cambodia. School highlights include:
- The year 3 students attended a camp with Shinkwang children from Korea in Puok District. Twenty-one kids from each group were paired for the camp…working as a team for fun and educational activities. The camp was so successful it will now be an annual event.
- BOH had their first day with two English classes.
- A special needs teacher revisited BOH, spending special time following up with Children and staff and also helped with the Camp.
- A specialist in mental health evaluation from Australia visited providing mental health checks and support for children and staff. After their session, one of the staff said, “It was the very first time for me to be attentively heard by someone else. That alone helped me a lot to release some of my very old heart troubles.”
- The Chapel Sydney Team visited for Children Club. After a fun and encouraging time…singing loudly and dancing together for a week, it was sad to say goodbye to the team who showed real respect and love to the children.
Badminton success…
Three of BOH’s badminton players participated in a national competition in Phnom Penh in October with one winning and another placing second. Winning badminton is good, but it can never surpass the enrichment of the children’s lives spurring them on to win their life journey. Poverty is not an excuse for an unhealthy life! Both winners graduated from BOH attending the public school this year, yet they keep returning to BOH to attend the after-school English program.
Community news and challenges…
- The BOH community care team has been caring for some of their community families who were sick or injured in accidents over the past few months requiring funds.
- With the heavy seasonal rain comes the loss of income making it difficult for their community.
- Sadly, a father of three BOH kids, passed away recently.
- Community support packages have been given to 72 families during the past 3 months.
- Donations are needed to continue the above programs for another year.
