Updates from the Field …
Civil unrest has eased since late 2024, but political tensions remain with elections due in February 2026. The Caleb directors are planning a long-postponed visit for November 2025. Preparations are advancing to reopen the Chakla Bazar school in January 2026
Growing Enrolments …
Despite ongoing economic challenges, enrolments are increasing, particularly at Savar. Across the schools there are now 680 students supported by 37 teachers, with an additional 40 adults in literacy programs. The 11 boys at the orphanage are thriving, and the schools continue to achieve results well above the national average
Stories of progress ….
Two graduates have moved on to higher education in nursing and Bible College respectively. Among the younger boys, a couple who have struggled with Maths, have started electrical trade training, while another balances Bible College with weekly Maths lessons. Strong relationships with local officials and communities remain a cornerstone of the project, ensuring consistent support and recognition of its value.
Priorities Ahead …
- Maintain care and development for the boys at the orphanage.
- Keep schools running smoothly with focus on quality teaching.
- Increase enrolments at Tongi, Savar, and Uttara.
- Strengthen partnerships with schools in Australia.
- Reopen Chakla Bazar school in January 2026
