Vision becoming a reality…
Caleb foundation’s vision to purchase and renovate multi school buildings in Bangladesh to enable education for children and adults, enhancing their opportunities for a brighter future, is a reality.
Building was commenced in May 2025 at the property at Badargonj. It is now fully operational, providing an indoor community meeting area. This facility will enable adult literacy programs and skill training programs.
In July, Kalyan had vision to purchase a disused school building with furniture at Chakla Bazar, restore it, add an extra classroom and reopen the school The children in the area were not receiving any education. Three churches in NSW generously donated funds to purchase the property, add a classroom and toilet block, and build a brick security fence. The school is open as of January with 62 children enrolled!
Beneficiaries
Currently 698 students and 39 teaches plus 40 participating in Adult Literacy Programs are benefitting in multiple ways from this project…an amazing achievement! Many have gained employment through the Adult Literacy programs in rural areas and employment skills training.
Challenges…
- The political instability has marginally worsened over the past 4 months.
- Purchasing processes are slow in Bangladesh.
- Increasing land prices in Bangladesh and the difficulty in identifying and procuring suitable sites has slowed progress. However, when suitable land is purchased, construction has been consistently on or ahead of schedule.
