Practical Support…
Like many people in the current economic climate, the families the Sydney Refugee Team (SRT) support are under significant financial pressure. Some are unable to work while they attend English classes…building the language skills they need to live, work, and participate in their new country.
Over the past four months, SRT have provided fortnightly food parcels to 52 families, supporting 224 individuals; and 28 new families, representing 106 people, were referred to them showing the trust these families have in the team and the growing level of need.
Growing need…
Language and cultural barriers are a daily challenge, especially working across Arabic and Persian-speaking communities. Google Translate on their phones is invaluable.
SRT are deeply thankful for the churches, volunteers, and donors who make this work possible. Your generosity helps provide food, practical care, friendship, and financial relief to families rebuilding their lives in Australia.
The greatest need for the coming months is having enough physical resources to support the growing number of families requesting help. This includes food staples, food parcels, vouchers, and funds for urgent utility and medical bills.
