The word is spreading…
FPI (Food Plant International, Inc) are helping the hungry to feed themselves in PNG, Zimbabwe, India, Vietnam, Vanuatu, and Timor-Leste…
Papua New Guinea
Sixteen boxes of books and posters shipped to PNG are being distributed by six organisations across PNG with assistance of Mission Aviation Fellowship. FPI are strengthening relationships and networks across Papua New Guinea to promote the use of FPI resources and appoint an FPI champion to be a global leader in tropical agriculture.
Zimbabwe
Interest and use of resources is growing across Zimbabwe. FPI are collaborating with Chinhoyi University of Technology to promote local food plant nutrition, recipes, posters, curriculum, and agroecology and establish a community of practice for Zimbabwe traditional food plants.
FPI plans…to build a traditional shelter in the community garden in Buhera for training and community gatherings; to send a second shipment of FPI books, posters, and resources; to appoint an FPI champion, and to translate resources into Ndebele language.
India
An India poster launch in May in partnership with ACTS Group of Institutions in Bengaluru went well. Promotion of these resources is continuing through their networks and agricultural institutions. FPI are updating their website to include Indian posters to inspire other locations and ecological zones.
Vietnam
Research continues to develop posters on the edible plants of Vietnam with the Vietnamese people. FPI are planning a Vietnamese food plant poster launch at Worldview Intercultural study centre in St Leonards, Tasmania and celebrated via a small online launch.
Vanuatu
Vanuatu edible plant posters are being finalised and printed ready to launch at a feast at FPI with agricultural workers from Vanuatu and celebrated via a small online launch.
Timor-Leste
Research and collaboration continue to develop Timor-Leste posters and books ready to transport a selection to Vanuatu in a shipping container sent by Hope Education Inc.
