Next Generation R & D…
Papua New Guinea…
Bruce and Deb French’s agricultural and theological library, totaling 176 boxes, was delivered to UNRE and Sonoma Adventist College in PNG. Library Aid International and university staff coordinated the distribution. A partnership with Baptist Mission Australia and the PNG Baptist Union is under consideration.
Zimbabwe…
28 rural and 10 urban communities across Zimbabwe report successful harvests using drought-resistant seeds introduced through partnerships with ICRISAT and MEDRA. A $2,000 donation will support translation and printing of educational materials. Local champion Melody Machere continues to coordinate training, seed distribution, and follow-ups.
Timor-Leste…
An Australian contact will visit Timor-Leste soon to explore local partnerships and promote Food Plants Internation, Inc (FPI) materials. Seasonal workers bring posters and books when returning home from Tasmania. The focus remains on building respectful, long-term relationships.
Vietnam…
FPI continues to look for partners to promote posters and resources highlighting the nutritional value of traditional food plants. These materials are shared locally and through the FPI website.
Solomon Islands…
Efforts are underway to connect with Tasmanian churches involved in missions in the Solomon Islands, with the aim of improving food security using FPI’s educational resources.
What’s Next…
FPI will finalise MOUs, support Zimbabwe fundraising efforts, grow seed programs, and expand connections in Timor-Leste and the Solomon Islands. Increasing the number of local advocates remains a key priority for sustainable impact.
