Momentum building…
The programmes in Zimbabwe, PNG and India are progressing well. In Vanuatu, a prospective connection has not progressed and FPI are collaborating with Tasmanians to send resources through their connections.
In Zimbabwe…grass-roots community gardens and training by NGOs incorporating FPI’s traditional plant information and complemented by collaboration at a university level to integrate the promotion of traditional plants across departments (Chinhoyi University of Technology). There are three different traditional food plant projects happening in three communities (Harare, Buhera and Donga). Good relationships are being formed with key individuals in different organizations, communities, and individuals in Zimbabwe
In Papua New Guinea…their books, posters and electronic databases have arrived and distributed by Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) to different locations and to a range of individuals and organisations. It is hoped that these books and posters can facilitate further engagement and interest in these valuable resources, for the benefit of the community.
In India…we are engaging at a strategic leadership level with two influential organisations (MS Swaminathan Research Foundation and ACTS Group of Institution). This will hopefully allow contextualisation of our FPI resources to the different ecological zones.
