Early Education Classes…
Early Childhood Education classes for the young and vulnerable 3 & 4-year-old children in the community commenced this year. The primary school now has 265 students, increasing the need for the planned extra classrooms.
Children succeeding…
- All twenty-one 2024 Grade 7 students passed with excellent results and have moved on to secondary school.
- Four 2024 Grade 12 students qualified for tertiary studies and have started their courses this year. There are now 7 former students at university or in Technical Colleges. Another student will join them in second semester.
- The first university students are expected to graduate at the end of this year.
Challenges…
- The Education Department in Zambia has decided to change various parts of the curriculum. Students will now graduate to secondary school after Year 6, rather than Year 7, and university courses will run for three years instead of the current four. This action delayed the start of the academic year for all schools and will take time to assimilate.
- Shortage of fresh water – considerations include sinking a bore and rainwater tanks.
- Electricity supplied for only one hour daily at night and the generator uses a lot of fuel.
