Disaster risk and resilience preparedness…
Rautahat was one of the worst-hit districts by intense rain and flooding in October 2024. After the initial phase of delivering emergency relief to those affected in Rajdevi Municipality, ACN organized a two-day Disaster risk reduction and climate change awareness session focused on disaster management and preparedness aimed to help community leaders and government officials prepare for floods and other disasters. 56 people benefited from the session facilitated by the Rautahat Red Cross Society. Local ACN staff followed up with the participants throughout Jan and Feb 2025 to help implement learnings into their local community and answer questions.
Jajarkot House Reconstruction…
Permanent house reconstruction in Jajarkot after the 2023 earthquake is progressing. After the initial emergency earthquake response where ACN provided emergency food, hygiene and shelter for affected households, a group of local people were selected to receive basic vocational training in basic house construction, plumbing and electrician skills. The trainees are now working under supervision in Jajarkot helping with reconstruction efforts to rebuild permanent homes.
The Lead government engineer from the Jajarkot Municipality visited ACN building reconstruction site in January/February and endorsed their progress.
