Summer relief…
With the warmer weather, large physical wounds from frostbite and burns have healed amazingly while outreach continues in three locations to support the homeless in all aspects of life and provide opportunities for them to improve their circumstances. The outreach program includes:
- Monthly shower-house days including sets of second-hand clothes,
- Continuing drop-in bus project activities,
- Summer outings with homeless groups together, board members and volunteer, and
- Health promotion through these activities.
Coffeehouse brewing…
The 12-walled Ger for the Coffeehouse – Eatery was due for completion at the end of June and interior fit out commenced in preparation for opening. Another smaller 7-walled Ger is under construction for staff to oversee the community house. New fencing, street extension, small garden and terrace are underway for the 2 new Gers.
Staff development…
Advertising and recruiting new staff and (volunteer) board members with long term personal commitment to improving quality, impact, and services for the homeless is a priority. Staff training is planned to start in August 2022 to develop a cohesive and dynamic team
NGO promotion…
A key objective is to create a network of volunteers (for social projects) and advisors (for Board) to stabilise and promote the NGO. Liaising with local district office and securing more cooperation with other (overlapping) organizations has commenced.
