Fairing well…
The cooler weather after the monsoon season was perfect for the Annual School Fair filled with games and activities for the students. It was a resounding success with over 2000 students and parents in attendance.
Staff and children went to a nearby Himalayan River for a white-water rafting adventure. The day filled with fun and laughter was a great bonding experience for the Good Shepherd Acgricultural Mission (GSAM) family.
The mission currently supports 62 hostel children, 11 staff children 76 staff workers member, 3 graduates, 24 students in Indian universities, 12 agricultural laborers work on the farm and some 700+ students are studying at their school.
Successful harvest…
Despite some late monsoon rains flooding their entire property, the rice paddy harvest was such a success there is enough crop to feed them for the next 2 years.
Vaccination drive…
GSAM organised a COVID-19 vaccination drive for their local community, hostel staff and children and students.
Buildings collapsing…
The laundry building collapsed needing demolition and the carpentry workshop was heading for the same demise but for the support of a friend from Australia…construction of a new carpentry workshop is due for completion in the next 4-5 months.
Health concerns…
While most of the children are healthy and appear happy, Rajesh, a senior boy, appears to have a rare degenerative genetic disorder called spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) and a Board Member, Paula, has successfully had a brain tumour removed and is recovering well.
