Building Trust Through Home Visits…
Each Saturday, project managers Will and Julie and the teachers from Good Neighbours Preschool in Tria Leur, visit the homes of the students. These visits have strengthened relationships with families and given the team deeper insight into each child’s life, helping tailor support and foster trust with the local community.
A Steady and Enriching Routine…
The school runs smoothly five days a week (Monday–Wednesday, Friday, Saturday) from 7:30 to 10:30 am, with early starts on flag ceremony days. In addition to regular classes, there are ongoing extracurriculars including Sunday art classes, weekday English lessons, and afternoon sports.
Setbacks and Progress…
The weekly milk program, a highlight for the children, will move to a monthly schedule due to limited funds. Delays were also caused by the need to renew the project’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the managers’ NGO Visas. These hurdles underscore how vital continued administrative and legal support is to sustain the project.
Visits from other countries are always welcomed as was a visit from Celis Ferreira from Brazil.
The Need for Continued Support…
With 64 pupils and full enrolment, the preschool continues to be a preferred choice for families in the growing Trea community. Monthly costs are increasing and an additional $4.5k is needed to fund operations through August — including teacher wages, food, education resources, and basic welfare needs.
