Heading up…
A local Bangladeshi businessman has committed to help fund the next 2 floors of the Tongi school. He has committed to pay three-quarters of the cost of an additional floor and Caleb foundation have raised the balance and construction will commence in May. If this is successful, he further committed to do the same again for another floor.
Enrolments up…
Most of current 85 students progressed through to the next grade and the school is running smoothly with increasing enrolments now. The 18-month closure due to Covid-19 and civil unrest had a devastating effect on enrolments and the Bangladeshi economy, particularly the garment industry. This combined with high inflation over the past 18 months and businesses moving work to other more stable countries has put financial stress on families.
A highlight…
Their Sports and Cultural Day was deemed successful with colourful dancing and lots of activities to bring everyone together in the post Covid world.
Plans for 2025…
- Caleb Foundation are driving to increase enrolments to 130-140 in the next year.
- Reviewing self-sufficiency opportunities for 2025 calendar year.
