Sad scenario generates “Oasis Care”
Lainah Phirl is the founder and visionary behind Oasis Care in 2004 when a young woman with a 2-week old baby lost her father and saw her whole world shaken. Born and raised in the Copperbelt, her amazing heart for her own people and her compassion and love for the children of Kantalomba are an inspiration to anyone who meets her. She works fulltime with Oasis Care in coordinating the work, looking after the administration, working with Benson on the farm and has learned all about farming crops and is a local ‘expert’ in what to and how to grow it. Together with her three children, Chimemwe (10), Joshua(7) and Mateo(3), Lainah lives on the Oasis Care farm some 10kms out of Ndola.
Lainah, in recent years, has had ongoing health issues and while she has good staff and a supportive Board working with her, her vision and drive are essential to keep the work going. She and her family – Chimwemwe, Joshua and Mateo – live at the Oasis Care Farm. She relies on support from others to provide for her family on a daily basis.
