Developing the Schools in Uganda
Joy of Friendship
The new school year has started well and we were delighted to welcome some amazing volunteers from Australia, Holger and Jo Dullin and their 10-year-old son, who stayed with us from the 2nd of June to the 6th of July. They were able to give lots of time and attention to the children, and the teachers benefitted from their knowledge of children and the classroom environment. They also visited the secondary school project.
As far as the new secondary school goes work has progressed on the foundations, following the transfer of funds from HADA. The main slab has now been poured but to reach our stage one target we need to raise significantly more funding. Until the secondary school is operational, we are pleased to be able to sponsor at least some primary school leavers to attend other secondary schools. Five more children have been sponsored to high school this year. Future planning is very dependant on the funds available.
The primary school developments are on schedule and major construction is now completed, although upgrades would be welcome. Good installations make a good environment for maintaining good educational standards, happy staff and students.
