Amazing High Tea

Corrie, a worker and a rescued homeless man

Devonshire TeaThe buzz of conversation was intermingled with words of satisfaction as guests at the HADA High Tea drank tea and coffee and munched on the limitless supply and variety of sumptuous cakes and sweets as well as interesting and tasty savoury morsels.

Some 90 people gathered to enjoy the afternoon and donate to the HADA project to support the homeless in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Corrie van der Esch, manager of the project in Mongolia, prepared a video presentation of the work among the homeless and we were shocked by some of the images of burns suffered by people sleeping under the streets next to hot water pipes which they touched unawares leaving the flesh raw. All in an effort to get out of the freezing cold! Some 8,000 people are homeless in the capital of Mongolia and with temperatures reaching as low as -50 degrees they are candidates for death by freezing.
