Paving the Way
The making of paving bricks has commenced using the funds sent from HADA in August. Work has also started on drainage and paving a path to avoid muddy ground around the school. It is encouraging to see this work begin however more funds are needed to complete.
A permanent salaried teacher is now employed to organise, train and mentor the volunteer teachers and to give continuity to the children. More permanent staff are needed to advance this project as volunteers who are much appreciated can leave at any time leaving a gap and this impacts the children’s education.
Short Term Team
Nikki and Alison will be visiting in October and we look forward to hearing their report on how the mothers and teachers learn to use the sewing machine Alison is taking over. Possibly one day they may be able to sew school uniforms which will save the school money. Nikki’s main priority is to check the accounts and running of the school, to understand their needs better, and to assist in the planning of the Secondary School.
Last School Term
Preparations are under way with teachers vigorously organising their class work while the students are on holidays. Improved teaching at the primary school is a priority with a view to commencing work on the secondary school in 2017.
Fund Raising to Commence Soon
At least $3,000 is needed this quarter for ongoing capital items and the Secondary School. Major fund raising for the Secondary School will begin as soon as the land title is confirmed.
A sincere thank you to the Australian supporters who are helping this vital work to continue. With 185 children and their families receiving the benefit of this work it is good to hear that they are maintaining a good standard and the children are happy and thankful to be able to attend school.
