Who will help?
Hope of Tomorrow (HOT) was established in 2011 to provide vocational training and establish a place of community for blind people in the Yunnan Province of China.
HOT aims to improve the quality of life for people with a visual disability by equipping them with income-generating skills to support themselves. We also provide an opportunity for these people, often outcasts in society, to socialize in a loving, accepting environment.
A range of vocational training is offered, depending on the individual’s strengths, including professional massage, computer use, singing and piano lessons. We also support them with life skills and learning Braille. For those who need it, accommodation is available through our ‘HOT Spot’.
Assistance is available to men, women and children all of whom have their own, often tragic, story to tell. Hope of Tomorrow provides them with valuable social interaction and friendship at the HOT Centre ‘House of Bartimaeus’ where, every week, 20-30 adult blind people have the opportunity to sing, dance and share their stories with each other.
This is a cherished time for many, who say, “It is our first time to receive so much love from other people, and our first time to have these happy & meaningful activities.”
So many people…
We are encouraged to see the difference we are making in so many lives, but for every person we help there are more waiting…
The need for funding is ongoing as we strive to reach out to as many people as we can. Unfortunately, we are limited by our space and resources and need your help if we are to continue to effect change in the lives of more people.
